Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Pop In is built on a simple principle: show useful crowd data without compromising your privacy. While we detect when you enter or leave participating places to update crowd counts, your identity and location are never shown to other users.
100% Anonymous to Others
Your identity and location are never shared with other users. Other users only see anonymous, aggregated crowd counts.
No Tracking Between Places
Your location is used only to support active geofenced areas and location-based app features. Pop In does not continuously track your movement between places.
Your Privacy Protected
Pop In may detect when you enter or leave participating places so crowd counts can be updated, but your identity is never revealed to other users.
1. Information We Collect
- Place Attendance: We detect when you enter or leave active geofenced areas to update crowd counts. This information is not shown to other users. Other users only see the total anonymous crowd count.
- Email: We store your email for authentication and account-management purposes only.
- Phone Number: If you provide a phone number as part of your account, it is used only for account-related functionality and is never shown to other users.
2. How We Use Location
- Geofence Detection: Location is used to determine when your device enters or leaves active geofenced areas and to support nearby-location features.
- No Continuous Tracking Between Places: We do not continuously track your movements between places.
- Pro Features: We do not maintain a continuous location history. If you choose to use certain Pro features, we may retain the venue activity, history, favorite-location information, or alert preferences needed to provide those features.
- Background Permission: “Always Allow” location access may be requested so geofence updates can work even when the app is not open.
3. What We Never Share
- Your email or phone number is never shared with other users.
- Your location is never shared with other users.
- We do not continuously track your location between places.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your personal data for advertising purposes.
4. How Crowd Data Works
Pop In uses attendance signals to calculate crowd information for participating places. The crowd information shown to other users is presented as anonymous or aggregated data and is not intended to identify an individual user.
5. Data Deletion
You have control over your account data:
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account from within the app. Account deletion permanently removes your account information and associated personal data, subject to any information we are legally required or permitted to retain.
- Anonymous Crowd Data: Crowd-count information presented to other users is anonymous and is not displayed with your identity.
6. Location Permissions
You can manage Pop In's location access at any time through your iPhone's Settings. Disabling location access may prevent features such as geofence-based crowd updates and nearby-place functionality from working correctly.
7. Service Providers
Pop In may rely on service providers for infrastructure, authentication, app functionality, crash reporting, or other operational services. These providers may process limited information only as needed to provide their services to Pop In. We do not sell personal data to these providers.
8. Children
Pop In is not intended for children below the minimum age permitted for use of the app. Users must meet any age requirements shown on the App Store or required by applicable law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Pop In evolves. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
10. Contact Us
